About Keep It Keto
‘Ey up! I’m Rhys and I’ve been a health and fitness nutter ever since I learnt to walk and talk. After attending sport science college and completing a Molecular Biology BSc in in 2013, it was in 2017 I serendipitously discovered and started living the keto lifestyle. I've never looked back.
This discovery happened during a final research project in my Oncology Genetics MSc. I was involved in a motorbike accident that injured my leg leaving me unable to walk for a year and permanently damaging it. Seeking ways to reduce inflammation and recover quicker, keto offered me a lifestyle that has made me as healthy as I’ve ever been.
Unfortunately, I still had a sweet tooth and carb cravings! This meant 50% of what used to be on the menu was now off, chocolates and cookies being the first casualties. Having also once worked in food microbiology, and after seeing the quality of food diminish over the years in the lab and on the shelf, I just had to try and bring back food to its previous nutritional reputation. So, I decided to get all culinary and make my own keto chocolates and more! And offer the same to anyone else on their keto journey, all handmade from our community kitchen at the amazing Pealie's Barn.

During studying another MSc in 2021 in Biomedical Science, the Keep It Keto YouTube channel was conceived. Initially it was just to promote my food business further. But with my previous scientific and fitness background, I felt it useful to share my knowledge with anyone looking to broaden their horizons in these areas.
Further, when I realised I could apply some of my hobbyist craft & graft skills, and outdoor adventures, into making for more interesting viewing alongside the information, it was the spark igniting what you see today online.

Thank you for reading and good luck with your health and fitness journey, it’s an everyday investment. I hope you enjoy watching my love of food, fitness and fun. And maybe whilst you are here, pick up the sweet taste of Keep It Keto. All the best!
